I SPENT HOW MUCH ON TAKE OUT!!!!!

I SPENT HOW MUCH ON TAKE OUT!!!!!!

Hello Bakers

I wasn’t expecting to be shocked ... maybe a little — I was just doing a quick year-end check of my spending.

Then I saw it.

$3,622.40 spent on takeout this year!!!!

Not guilt. Not shame. Just a quiet "oh fudge" moment.

When I broke it down, it worked out to:

  • Over $300 a month
  • Nearly $70 a week
  • Almost $10 a day on meals I barely remember

And that does not include lunches I bought at work, or the days my husband purchased takeout!!!

THATS MY DOORDASH SPENDING ... MINE!!!!!

Ordering out isn’t a failure. For me, it bought convenience, comfort, and relief on busy days

Why I’m focusing more on family meals at home

Family meals aren’t about perfection or fancy cooking. They’re about:

  • Simpler routines
  • Food that works for everyone
  • Less stress at the end of the day
  • And yes — keeping more money in your pocket

But home cooking only works if it’s realistic. If it’s complicated or exhausting, takeout sneaks right back in.

So instead of “doing more,” I’m doing less — but better.

What you’ll see more of from me

Going forward, Baking on Thyme will lean into:

  • Family-friendly meals
  • Budget-conscious, comforting food
  • Simple weeknight dinners
  • Recipes that feel doable on real days

The goal isn’t to never order out again — it’s to make home feel easier, warmer, and more sustainable.

If this resonates with you, you’re not alone — and I’m excited to share what’s coming next.

From my kitchen to yours,

Jas
